Originally Le Four à Chaux is a 19th century country house, built from old stones. It is carefully restored in keeping with the period, and fully equipped with modern amenities.
It has lots of character, with its thick walls, window shutters, ancient stairways, original tiled floors, and traditional beamed ceilings.
Two open fireplaces are complemented by a full central heating system. Mixed with a traditional level of comfort they make Le Four à Chaux a house for all seasons.
The house (approx. 30 x 4.50 m) has 3 floors:
- the ground floor with 6 spaces, all directly connected to the courtyard and the front garden with its swimming pool area;
- the first floor with 5 spaces, all directly connected to the back garden and upper terraces;
- the attic with 4 spaces and a balcony.
The ground floor consists of the main entrance hall with a traditional Provencal stairway, a large living room (two spaces connected to its other by an arcade) with open fire place, a small separate TV room, a side hall/office, a fully equipped dining room & kitchen with open fireplace, a large and cool scullery (a 3m long rvs worktop, washing machine/dryer, lots of storage cabinets), a utility room for equipment and a wine cellar.
Three sets of stairs lead upstairs to the first floor, where there are three bedrooms, each with their own ensuite bathroom (ornate bath tube) or shower room with sinks and private toilet. All rooms have their own entrance to the garden and upper terraces. Staircases, bathrooms and entrances provide complete privacy for each bedroom.
The attic and top floor is partly under construction. Two more bedrooms and shower rooms can complement here the existing linen room with balcony. The roof is brand new, fully isolated and provided with double glazed new windows. Drains and electricity are in place.
